Improvements to iSite are referred to by three classifications:
- Production Releases
- Service Releases
- Custom Functionality Releases
iSite typically follows a quarterly release cycle, with new or updated functionality being released in January, April, July and October of each year. Typically, an official release document is published that highlights the upcoming changes that are to be included in the Production Release. This document is usually released up to two weeks prior to the actual release of the software upgrade. This allows for any questions or requests for specific testing in our Staging environment.
In addition to a release document, an email notification is sent to iSite License Administrators indicating the date and time of the software upgrade along with an expected window of downtime. This downtime could range anywhere from two to eight hours and is normally executed during off peak hours.
A Service Release contains bug fixes or minor "out of band" enhancements to functionality. Service Releases are not accompanied with an official release document and can be implemented at any time. There is no advanced notification of Service Releases. Downtime ranges anywhere from one to five minutes.
Custom Functionality Releases
A Custom Functionality Release is a special release that contains functionality specifically requested for a iSite Contract. These releases occur as needed. There is no advanced notification of Custom Functionality Release. Downtime ranges anywhere from one to five minutes.
iSite version numbering is in the following format:
AAAA is the Major Version, and usually represents the calendar year that the software was released for.
BB is the Minor Version, and usually represents the number of the calendar quarter that the software was released for.
CCCC is the Build Number and represents the number of days since January 1, 2000.
DDDDD is the Revision Number and represents the number of seconds since midnight on the day the software was compiled.
The current iSite software Version Number can be found at the bottom of every iSite Page.
