The Estimate group of functions refers to a section of the Estimate Ribbon Bar under the Estimate Tab.

The Estimate group of the Ribbon Bar.

Description

There are three functions to choose from:

  • Properties
  • Add Component
  • Attachments

The Properties Button

The Estimate Properties can be accessed by clicking the Properties button, part of the Estimate group of functions under the Ribbon Bar of the Estimate Viewer. Clicking the Properties button will lead to the the Estimate Properties menu, which are separated into three tabs: General, Options, and Audience

Note: Some settings may not be editable based on the status of the Estimate. For example, if an Estimate is published, the settings under General and the Options tab cannot be edited; only the settings under the Audience tab can be edited.

General Tab

The General Tab consists of the following sections:

  • Properties
  • Estimate Range Identification
  • Status

Properties

This section allows Users to view the Estimate Type and the Estimate Layout. Additionally, Users can edit the Task name, Estimate Name, Comments, and any custom fields that Users wish to specify.

Estimate Range Identification

This allows Users to select the Effective Financial Month, Starting Financial Month, and Ending Financial Month for an Estimate.

Note: When working with an Estimate-to-Complete, you will also need to specify the Financial Month that the Estimate is for. You may have many Estimates-to-Complete for a given Task. By specifying the effective Financial Month, you will be able to see a point-in-time view of what the Estimate-to-Complete is for the Task. Additionally, You may only have one Estimate-to-Complete for a given Task and effective Financial Month combination.

The Status section displays general information for the Estimate Package. It displays the following information:

  • Who originally created the Estimate
    • The date and time of creation
  • Who last updated the Estimate
    • The date and time of the update
  • The Estimate Status
  • Information on reviewing and publishing, if applicable. (See Estimate Permissions for more information on reviewing and publishing Estimates.)

Options Tab

Note: All three of the options in this tab are meant to be used to override default settings and only affect the Estimate whose properties are being edited. Therefore, changing these settings do not affect all Estimates, only the one that is being viewed.

The Options Tab consists of the following options:

  • Enable Historic Estimate Entry
    • This option allows Users to back enter data for dates that have already passed in Estimates. This option is controlled by a Permission.
  • Numeric Format for Display
  • Numeric Format for Publishing

Audience Tab

The Audience Tab allows Users to select the Security Groups that are able to view the Estimate. The Audience Tab presents two options to choose from:

  • Inherit from selected Template (Allows All Users)
  • Only Users in the Following Security Groups
    • Selecting this option will bring up the Security Group selection list.

The Add Component Button

Components can be added to Estimates by clicking the Add Component button, part of the Estimate group of functions under the Ribbon Bar of the Estimate Viewer. Clicking the Add Component button will lead to the the Estimate Component Properties menu.

Note: Components can only be added when the Estimate is in Draft Status. To unlock an Estimate that has been approved but not published, see the Estimate Permissions.

Description

The Estimate Component Properties menu will allow Users to specify the Subtask, Name, and Comments associated with the new Component. If a User utilizes a Template that specifies a format or naming convention of subtasks, inputting any new Subtask Codes that do not match the naming convention will give an error stating that they need to match.

After a Component is added, it appears in the Component Tab Bar. If the Component being added is the second Component in the Estimate, iSite will generate another tab titled Estimate Summary, which is the aggregate of the two (or more) Components. The Estimate Summary does not appear if there is only one Component in the Estimate.

The Attachments Button

Each Estimate has the ability to support Attachments that Users can upload and view that are specific to that individual Estimate. Users can access the Attachments of an Estimate by clicking the Attachments button, part of the Estimate group of functions under the Ribbon Bar of the Estimate Viewer.

Note: Attachments functionality is controlled by Administrators via Estimating Module Settings. Attachments can still be accessed when Estimates are published.  However, attachments can only be added to an Estimate when the Estimate is in Draft status.

Description

Clicking the Attachments button will lead to the Attachments menu. There, Users can view and download Attachments that are associated with the Estimate. The layout of the Attachments menu is identical to the Document Libraries feature of iSite.
